Whole Maritime industry on high alert as Hurricane Erin Threatens Atlantic Shipping Routes

Once a category 5 hurricane, Erin was declared downgraded to category 2 on 19th Aug 2025 , presently the hurricane is passing through Atlantic Ocean.

  •        The speed of wind is approx. 175 Km/hr

  •        From the storm eye the tropical storm extends to approx. 426 Km

  •        Forecasts indicate waves from approx. 16 meters to 30 meters

The hurricane can have below impact  

Impact location – US East Coast ports, Atlantic Sea route

Below are the major ports on USA East coast that might be impacted –

  •        Port of New York

  •        Port of New Jersey

  •        Port of Savannah

  •        Port of Virginia (Norfolk)

  •        Port of Charleston

  •        Port of Baltimore

  •        Port of Miami

  •        Port of Philadelphia 

The shipping route may be disrupted for  next 3 days.

North Carolina governor Josh Stein declared a state of emergency on 19th Aug 2025

Even without a direct landfall the hurricane can imports ports from Florida to Canada and till UK.
