Chinese coast guard vessel CCG 3104 collided with Chinese navy vessel while chasing Philippines coast guard vessel BRP Suluan

Incidence – On 11th Aug 2025, A Chinese coast guard vessel CCG 3104 was chasing a Philippines  coast guard vessel BRP Suluan in South China Sea at a disputed location known as Huangyan island or Scarborough Shoal, in the chase the Chinese coast guard vessel used water canon to attach the BRP Suluan.

During the chase CCG 3104 took a quick turn and collided with Chinese Navy ship with hull number 164. This collision created a loud noise and later CCG 3104 was declared unseaworthy.

Later after the crash the Philippines coast guard vessel BRP Suluan tried to provide support to the Chinese coast guard vessel.

Impact – There was no loss of life, but the Chinese coast guard vessel was declared unseaworthy as it was severely damaged.

This incidence has created tensions amount the region and between the two countries.
