As per recent news of Sept’ 25, India’s second largest steel producer, JSW, Jindal Steel Works are planning to buy a break bulk carrier to be more self-reliant in their supply chain.
Usually steel making company do imports large quantities of coal, coke and flux in million MT and also exports steel in break bulk vessels. Having own vessel will given JSW a competitive edge on logistics cost in the steel market. Even a 10%-30% reduction in the exports cost can make it a forerunner in the steel tenders.
This is an exceptional step in the Indian Steel Sector but a smart one.
