Operations at Port of Salalah have resumed at reduced speed following the recent security incident, with the terminal currently operating below normal capacity.
Cargo handling has restarted in phases, but productivity remains constrained due to crane damage, ongoing safety checks, and tighter security protocols. Vessel berthing has resumed, though delays are expected as ships that were waiting or diverted begin to arrive, creating congestion and bunching.
Carriers are proceeding with planned calls, but turnaround times are longer, impacting transshipment flows for India–Middle East cargo. Backlogs from the ~2-day shutdown are still being cleared.
Recovery is expected in stages: partial normalization within 3–5 days, while full operational capacity may take around 1–2 weeks depending on repair progress.
For now, Salalah is functional but slow—adding short-term pressure on regional freight schedules and routing reliability.
