India DGFT notification for exports of Wheat flour

Recently on 16th January, the DGFT, the Director General of Foreign Trade of India issued notification No. 55/2025-26 regarding Amendment in export policy of items under HS Code 1101 for exports of Atta and Maida.

Changes appliable from 16th January 2026.

The export policy for HS Code 1101 remains prohibited in general, meaning exporters cannot freely export these products.

However, the export of these items is now permitted up to a cumulative quota of 5 lakh metric tonnes (5 LMT), subject to export authorisation issued by DGFT.

Export beyond 5 LMT continues to stay prohibited unless otherwise approved through exceptional government channels.

Details on how exporters apply for and qualify for these authorisations will be released separately via a Public Notice by DGFT.
