Intra-Asia & Red Sea Expansion: Jade Pacific Line Launches New India Loop

Singapore-based feeder operator Jade Pacific Line (JPL) has expanded its regional liner footprint by introducing a dedicated loop connecting West Coast India directly with Egypt's Red Sea gateway at Sokhna.

Operating on an ad-hoc, flexible schedule, the new service deploys feeder tonnage—including the 1,118 TEU Panama-flagged container vessel MEDKON SIA (IMO 9306249)—to link key manufacturing hubs in India to Middle Eastern and North African trade corridors.

Key Rotation Details

The service rotation targets high-volume export and import hubs across the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea corridor:

  • Port Rotation: Mundra >>Nhava Sheva (JNPT)>> Karachi>> Sokhna (Egypt)>> Mundra.

  • Tonnage Deployed: MEDKON SIA (1,118 TEU, geared container vessel).

  • Schedule Structure: Flexible/ad-hoc sailings tailored around spot demand and regional feeder connectivity rather than fixed weekly calls.

Operational Impact for Cargo Owners & Charterers

1. Equipment Availability & Relief at West Coast Ports

Dedicated regional feeder loops help rebalance equipment availability at major Indian export hubs like Mundra and Nhava Sheva. Direct regional calls prevent container empties from getting tied up in prolonged transshipment cycles at intermediate hubs.

2. Alternative Access to Red Sea Gateways

With major ocean carriers continuing to adapt their network schedules around the Red Sea, niche feeder operators play an important role. Connecting Indian ports directly to Sokhna gives Indian exporters a reliable path for cargo moving into Egyptian and East Mediterranean supply chains.

3. Freight Cost Competitiveness

Flexible, small-tonnage feeder services introduce additional regional capacity. For freight forwarders and NVOCCs, having independent feeder options helps keep short-sea freight rates competitive against mainline ocean carriers.

The Big Picture for Regional Logistics

The introduction of Jade Pacific Line’s India loop highlights how regional short-sea operators are stepping in to optimize feeder coverage. For logistics managers, leveraging flexible regional loops alongside mainline services is key to maintaining supply chain agility and managing ocean freight risk.
