The container vessel GFS Giselle, which sustained hull damage in an attack in the Strait of Hormuz on 14 October 2026, is now reported to be berthed at Jebel Ali Port, Dubai, where it has remained since 19 October and is undergoing repairs, according to the latest vessel-status information available to Logisticswall.
The Singapore-registered vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) confirmed that the ship sustained hull damage before reaching a safe anchorage under its own propulsion. All 22 crew members were reported safe, with no injuries. The authority said it was in contact with the vessel’s management company and monitoring the situation.
From emergency response to repair operations
The vessel’s reported arrival at Jebel Ali and subsequent berthing on 19 October mark an important development following the incident. Its current repair phase shifts attention from immediate crew safety and vessel recovery to the assessment of structural damage and the time required to restore the ship to service. The repair timeline and operational return date have not been independently confirmed.
The incident also highlights the wider risks facing commercial shipping in the Gulf. Damage to a working container vessel can disrupt scheduled services, delay cargo movements and create additional costs for carriers, cargo owners and insurers. With GFS Giselle now reported to be undergoing repairs at Jebel Ali, the next key developments will be the progress of repair work and confirmation of when the vessel can safely resume operations.
Logisticswall will continue to follow the vessel’s status and report further developments as verified information becomes available.
