DP world implements Emergency Surcharge of USD 2000 from 3rd March 2026

In the recent ongoing chaos due to closure of Strait of Hormuz, shipping lines have started implementing surcharges.

Recently DP world ( liner division - Unifeeder) has issued an advisory stating the implementation of emergency surcharge with effect from 3rd March 2026 as below

  • USD 2000 per 20’ container

  • USD 3000 per 40’ & 40 HC container

  • USD 4000 per reefer and special equipment


The Emergency surcharge applies to any booking / loading on or after 3rd March 2026 for shipments to and from Gulf countries which includes – Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Iraq.

These charges will also be applicable for containers already released, loaded or already on water.

  Also presently they have issues notification to unload all containers of SSL Godavari at Pipavav port, India till further notice. They are also planning to offload other vessel containers at Indian ports for vessels bound to Gulf countries.
