Recently two American players in shipbuilding Austal USA and Master boat builders have contracted to work in collaboration to build vessels for USA

Austal USA – is a subsidiary of an Australian shipbuilding company Austal and is in agreement with USA government to build ships / provide service for defence industry. They also cater customers in building commercial ships, the company acquires 165 acres on Mobile river.

Master boat builders – is a family-owned company for ship building and is based in Alabama USA, they have expertise in tug boats and commercial ship building.

Both the companies will work together

  • By sharing the job as per their expertise

  • By Joining hands to bid together for government contracts

  • For employee development and sharing technical expertise

Presently America’s share in shipbuilding is less than even 1% and the above collaboration is much needed to make America great again in maritime ship building industry.

Presently more than 50% of commercial vessels are made in China, we have mentioned the details in our earlier blog. This share is giving immense power to China in maritime industry and is aligned to an old saying ‘One who rules the Ocean, rules the World”.

US government has initiated several reforms to increase shipbuilding in USA to restore the American maritime dominance on commercial terms.
