Taiwan ports closure on 2nd and 3rd Oct on arrival on Typhoon Krathon

Typhoon Krathon is expected to make landfall at a major Taiwanese port Kaohsiung shortly, expected by Wednesday night or Thursday (3rd Oct) morning.

Current situation

  • Typhoon speed – 150 miles per hour
  • Rainfall expected – 100 to 200 cm
  • Taiwan has issued high alert and the most of office/schools are closed and military is on standby mode.

Impact on Maritime Industry – Most of the vessel on this route + vessels which were planned to arrive Vietnam have been phased out for next 2 days.

Krathon is expected to intensify further and may reach the level of super Typhoon. This is second Typhoon to make a landfall at Taiwan this year, before this, Typhoon Gaemi made a devastating impact and approx. 10 peoples were killed after its landfall.

Impact of the Typhoon in Philippine’s – it has heavily impacted Philippines and nearly 23,000 families have been impacted.
