Current situation at Red Sea – US Navy attacks on 15 Houthi locations on 4th Oct.

Recently on 1st Oct, vessel Cordelia Moon has been attacked by several missiles at Red Sea near Yemen by Houthi Rebels. The vessel sustained damage but the crew was safe, and she is sailing for next port calls.

On 4th Oct US Navy targeted 15 locations of Houthi rebels in Yemen. The attack was done through both aircraft and warships and as per Pentagon it was done to “to protect the freedom of navigation” as reported on BBC news yesterday. There were explosions reported at different cities of Yemen.

Presently the Houthi rebels are targeting any vessel related for Israel, UK, US or other Israel friendly countries or any vessel which has berthed at any port in Israel in History.

USA formed a naval coalition with few countries, the group is called  “OPG” – Operation Prosperity Guardian. Another EU military operation called Operation Aspis was started by European Union on 19th February 2024 to put a stop to Houthi rebels attack on vessels.

The situation is still tense. The number of vessels moving through Bab Al Mandab has increased since last 4 months.
