Why Global Container Ocean Freight will reduce in November 2025

The WCI index for Drewry report was USD 3986 on 9th Jan 2025 and it fell to USD 1746 on 23rd  Oct 2025.

The Exports to Europe would be low as when the cargo will reach, there would be Christmas holidays in Europe.

The imports volume to USA has started reducing. Now the impact of USA tariff can be seen.

USA China trade war of tariff has begun again and we don’t see a quick solution to this in coming weeks.


Increase in capacity and a reduction in demand for below reasons

Growing capacity of vessels – The containers vessel capacity has grown by 5% to 6%.

Reason for reduction in demand

  •        Peak season has ended for most of the regions.

  •        As per DHL the container growth would be minus 1 % for Nov 2025

  •        As per Xeneta for 2nd half of 2025, earlier they predicted a growth of 3% – 4% but later reduced it to 1% - 2%.
