The quantum of new Ocean Freight is as below

The above rates are inclusive of the Basic Ocean freight, Contingency Adjustment Charge (CAC), Piracy Risk Surcharge (PRS) and Emission Control Areas (ECA).

The other charges are as below
BRC (Bunker Recovery Charge): USD 172/TEU DRY
ETS (Emissions Trading System): USD 55/TEU
FEU (Fuel EU): USD 16/TEU
OTHC (Origin Terminal Handling Charges):

Above data has been taken from MSC website

Since MSC carrier more than 20% of Global containers, thus this reduction will make it competitive in the market and push other lines also to reduce the freight meanwhile Maersk has already reduced freight to above quantum for some shipments on their spot rates.

There will rate reduction pressure on CMA CGM, Hapag Lloyd, COSCO and other shipping lines.

Presently the discussion for opening of Red Sea passage is going on, once it opens there will be much more space than the demand due to extra vessel being unused which is now used for the route through Cape of Good Hope.

Will keep you updated.
