Haldia Dock Complex continues to rewrite its own benchmarks in container handling. After achieving an all-time monthly high of 21,691 TEUs in November 2025, HDC has gone a step further by scaling a new peak of 22,657 TEUs in December 2025. Back-to-back record months are no longer an exception at HDC—they are fast becoming the new normal.

HICT – Haldia International Container Terminal Private Limited is owned by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port Authority, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India and presently is operated by J M Baxi with license till next few months.
Haldia port is on Hooghly River and handles both break bulk & containerised vessels.
It monthly handles the cargo originating from East India.
Haldia Port has been functioning since 1968 and was commissioned in 1977, its one of the oldest ports of India.
It’s a riverine port and handles feeder vessel connecting the flow of East India exports to nearest mother vessel handling ports – Singapore and Colombo.
The port handles around 1.07 Lakhs containers annually. (This is the data for FY 22-23).
Recently rail movement has started to move containers from Kolkata port to Haldia port in order for timely container exports as there are regular draft issues at Kolkata port.
