Fire erupts on bulk carrier Qing Hua Shan at Southampton port

Recently on 26th Sept , a bulk carrier  Qing Hua Shan caught fire at Southampton port.

Incidence – The vessel was loaded with metal scrap and docked at gate 20 at Southampton port when the fire broke out at around 6 PM. The fire engulfed the hold number 3 and 4. The firefighting team was quick to act and presently the fire is under control but the holds are closed and will be opened shortly. The holds needs to be remained closed to avoid transfer of heat.

There were total 22 crew members who are safe.

Impact – The cargo in hold 3 and 4 are said to be damaged while the crew members are safe. The inspection of complete ship and cargo holds will take place once opened.
